"free" service

we brought our mazda into the dealer in denville for a free checkup about a month ago.
you know..free check up - they check out your car and tell you whats wrong for "free" so that you can feel like your car is a piece of junk and guilt you into coming back and paying $500 to make you feel better.
well, to no surprise, ever since we brought it in for the checkup, we've been hearing squeeling noises coming from the wheels..high pitched annoying squeeling noises that will drive you nuts! the kind that makes all the heads turn as you reverse out of a parking space at the supermarket. (its these noises and some other problems that inspired the previous post =] )

so since we dont trust the denville dealer anymore, we made an appointment with the wayne dealer instead. when we got there at 8am(!!) yesterday, we were pretty impressed.. the dealer was not nearly as shady looking as the denville dealer (which looked like an unkept home). so we were relieved cause they were so professional.

then the guy comes out to tell me that they need to replace the brakes and that brakes are not included in the warranty..and it'll cost $300. what in the world?! with not much other choice, i agreed that they could fix it..but at the same time wondering how the brakes would need to be replaced on a two year old car.

4 hours later, i realize the car being worked on that i thought was ours wasnt really ours..cause our car was sitting in the parking lot. i was so confused so i went to ask them if the car was finished. the guy is like..no itll just be another half hour. i was like..but my car is right there. he's like..no its not. after going back and forth a few times.. (i think i'd know my car).. he started to panic..

if you can believe it.. after 4 hours of waiting for our car..they were fixing another car that didnt have any problems (the car looked the same as mine). SO..they hadnt touched my car..they didnt change the oil, fix it...or even look at it!!! so unless the other car coincidentally needed new brakes, they basically made up the fact that my car needs new brakes.

they gave us a rental and we came back later in the afternoon (where we waited another hour!!) and finally got our car fixed. they said that now they would cover it under warranty..so the fix would be free. so whether my car really needed new brakes or not..they gave it to us..for free. so i guess we got our "free" service afterall..but then again not really..since it basically shot our whole saturday.

needless to say..i'll be taking both our cars to the acura dealer for checkups and i will be getting rid of the mazda this fall. (although it is running much better now =P)

wilson warned me bout this mazda dealer recommending unneccessary repairs..but id never imagine this would happen..

sweet rides

b4 the rsx and the 6s, there was the...

1982 chev monte carlo - "the tank"

yup this is what i drove into school senior year in high school..haha!

and yes..this car really was built in the 1900's.  although..i may
have been the only one driving one in 1996.  i always loved
pulling into the school parking lot and parking right next to the benzs
and mercedes.

1989 Nissan 240sx

drove this car for a couple years in college (1999-2000).. this was a fun car.

sad thing was..it was an automatic..what a waste.

it was my first and probably last rear wheel drive i'll ever own..oh well..

2000 honda civic si

the first car i ever bought on my own.  i really liked this car!  kinda miss it.

my rsx is probably better in every single way..but there's something about the si.

had this car from 2000 to 2003 - when it got jacked from the woodbridge
mall parking lot!  still remember that night so clearly..jen and i
were just recently engaged.. came out from having dinner and walking
around in the rain trying to find our car.

man..miss that car..

then came the rsx and the mazda which we still have...

and now...

coming late fall 2006...

2007 civic si sedan

i will buy this car.

sorry jen..the mazda's gotta go... =)

home projects (part 2)

a half a year later, we can finally say the basement is really almost finished!
its so hard to find the time to work on it. thank goodness for jen's uncles..
they came and put up some walls and doors. they also hooked us up with some more electrical outlets and put up the ceiling. so these are pictures of what our basement looked like about 3 months ago when they finished..

more recently, we've been cleaning, painting, and putting the floors down. we have about 2 more days of work and we should be finished! hopefully by this wednesday, i can post the finished product.

and itll be done just in time for gamenight friday - dont forget..8:00pm our place! (high schoolers)

i feel so accomplished..will be finishing my basement and my grad school all within a week!! what a week!

today was a packed, yet surpsingly relaxing day..
went to kathy's track meet earlier today..it was actually pretty fun..reminds me of back in the day.
korean food for lunch..yum! food coma - took a much needed 2 hour nap..so good =)
worked on the basement for the rest of the afternoon.
randomly bumped into ann and wilson for our unplanned double date at mcD's dinner
then went to united - good stuff. all the performances were so well done and simon's message was captivating..
and then came home and watched the notebook - reallly liked it (if thats okay for a guy to admit)
fun day!
